Of course I replied……

first of all, i never received an email before this one. secondly, i believe an explanation is needed. i have seen far worse posts completely self written or otherwise promoting of other restaurants.

i never go on to self promote my restaurant, in fact, never even bring it up. i do not hide who i am. you (chowhound) allowed an entire email from another restaurant to be posted ! so why i ask, do you remove a new post like the one i am referring to ? And, allow one about the entire religious aspects, which frankly, have NOTHING to do with the food, ambiance and service to be posted ? i know it was taken down, i am the one who reported it. but if i hadn’t, would it still be there ? there was another posting from months ago you removed. same exact thing. a new customer for me, a new poster for you, wrote a very intelligent piece, and you removed it ! why ? no explanation…..
I have no issue with negative reports about where i work. in fact, i have used chowhound as research “intelligence” for my own place. most times, i agree with what people say about trinity.
maybe i shouldn’t suggest your website anymore…….
i will not continue to post about this instance….
but i am watching….

this is a copy of what i will post until i get a straight answer…….

“while i can attest to a first timer being questioned on his/her post, why do you continue to remove a very well written post? this person had no affiliation with the restaurant or myself FYI.

is andrea clurfeld or someone else at the app the moderater here? does someone have it out for this restaurant or maybe me? i saw an entire email from david drake rest. posted here not to long ago. that was allowed……..

i have certainly seen much worse here. at least explain why, even in private email. BTW, this would not be the first time this happened. i remember “charmel” doing the same. guess what? no affiliation either. is it possible these people just had a great time and wanted to share? ”

What is the deal with chicken franchaise???????

Posted in Uncategorized on July 30, 2008 by themaverickchef

…and other apparently “NJ/surrounding area” dishes??????

I just don’t get it. Maybe its because I didn’t grow up here. Maybe because I have some concern about my health. Maybe its just me…..??????

What is up with chicken franchaise NJ????????? I don’t get it. Throw in the overly sauced myriad of deep fried, burried in tomato “sauce” and bad mozzarella “parmigiana” dishes, and calamari WITH marinara.

Anyone?

Welcome…….

The Maverick Chef is a site created for Chefs and food professionals by a Chef, although anyone is welcome !

The purpose is to share information, stories, ideas, and hopefully change some people’s minds about food and restaurants. So give me your stories of the horrible customer, the purveyor who never sends the right item, where you found the most aromatic blueberries this summer or even your favorite episode of Kitchen Nightmares (BBC version of course).

You will find food and restaurant related sites here. Some of these sites I visit quite often. Some I use for the restaurant where I work, Trinity in Keyport, NJ. I encourage all of you to support your local farmers and fisherman. Work toward being a “localvore” ! Buy Organic and Often ! Grow your own if you can…..

Remember, there is no politics here, no rules. It’s all about food and the pursuit of better food, with some laughs along the way…..

Some Moderation??????

Posted in Uncategorized on July 30, 2008 by themaverickchef

As some of you are aware of sites like “chowhound” and “e-gullet”, I wonder……who moderates these sites?

It is always nice to see a positive post about one’s restaurant, even a bad one every once in a while. However, the other day, I saw a post that didn’t belong. Yes, its about the restaurant where I work.

So, the poster says how she will never go into our restaurant because it is a former church and she is a catholic, its disrespectful, blah blah blah. Well, that got my feathers all up. So I decide to respond, in a nice way. I state that its too bad she wont come in because its a former church. The owner is catholic, originally it was a Lutheran church in 1857, and most recently, it was a Christian Science church.

And what happened……they removed my post but left her post up. I responded again even more careful and still they left her post and removed mine. Eventually, it was taken down.

So the question is, who is moderating these things? the entire idea of that paticular site is food, not the aesthetic of the restaurant’s history. At that point, the topic had moved far from food into religious beliefs.

Another thread had an entire email from a “famous” restaurant posted on the site about they new summer menu, how its all one menu, can come, etc… Talk about self promotion. I make it a rule to never promote my own restaurant when I post.

I am usually frowned upon for reading so many of these foodie blogs, but I do consider it a resource of information. You never know what you may pick up or learn.
